    Urgench is a city located in the south-west of Uzbekistan, near the border with Turkmenistan. It is a modern capital of Khorezm, an old kingdom with glorious past and promising future. Its long history is closely linked to the great river of Amu Darya. For many centuries it was a great and powerful country, which capital was first in Kunya Urgench, then in Khiva, and now in modern Urgench.
